Byzantine / Balkans
XI-XII century

Finally we may rest on the article of Raffaele D’Amato reconstructing the “Phrygian helmet” in the use of Byzantine military equipment from the 10th century and even from the 9th century. At the same time the Emperor Constantin’s “Book of Ceremonies” describes helmets with vizards at least in the 10th century. So we try to make a version of such helmet using the masks found in The Great Palace.

The mask from The Great Palace (Constantinopol) included.
Aventail (any kind) is not included, please discuss that with our manager.
