Scales of same shape were found in Dorogobuzh (Rivno province, Rus) and in the Great Palace of Constantinopole (Istanbul). Byzantine find is dating to the end of XII century – beginning of XIII century. About 200 scales were found fused to each other in fire, seems that the armour perished in the fire happened in Constantinopole in 1204 AD. At the same time the Dorogobuzh find is dated to the XI – beginning of XII century.
